Manchester United have reported a new high in yearly revenue of £677.6 million for the period concluding in June 2026. This amount, which is a slight rise from the prior record, comes with a seventh straight yearly post-tax loss, which grew to £43 million.

Chief executive Omar Berrada stated these results demonstrated the club's fundamental robustness. The increase in operating profit was credited to savings from earlier cuts to expenses and staff numbers, along with a better showing in the Premier League.

Cost cuts and managerial change

Extensive efforts to reduce costs by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, involving many job cuts, assisted in balancing out large payments due to contracts. The club recorded a substantial sum in exceptional costs, largely connected to the exit of manager Ruben Amorim in January. The club avoided a larger potential payment when Amorim quickly moved to another team.

Broadcast boost drives income

The rise in total revenue was fueled by a significant surge in money from broadcasting, helped by securing a top-three finish in the Premier League the previous season. Earning a place in the Champions League was a stark change from a much lower league position the year before. Income from commercial sources dropped, and earnings from matchday activities also saw a decrease.

Stadium plans advance

Away from the field, the club is progressing with proposals for a new stadium designed to hold a large number of spectators. In June, it spent a considerable sum to buy most of the land next to its current ground, with the rest of the acquisitions anticipated to be simple.

The financial strength is occurring while the present squad faces difficulties in matches. With a low points tally from their initial league games, the team is positioned in the middle of the table, matching a historically poor beginning to a campaign. Their latest results show a single victory, a couple of draws, and a couple of losses. The team's offensive problems are underscored by a low total of goal minutes in the league. Their next match at their home ground is against Tottenham Hotspur, an opponent they defeated there earlier in the year.

In spite of these early challenges, the club predicts its revenue will increase in the present financial year. The upcoming challenge is a home game against Tottenham.
