Manchester United are set to complete the signing of exciting youngster Cristian Orozco from Colombia next month. The midfielder is set to complete his transfer to United following his 18th birthday. Orozco will be evaluated by coaches before a development plan is formed for next season. It's likely that Orozco will be kept at the club, given he will require time to settle in a new environment after arriving from South America. Seko Kone and Diego Leon were similar signings, and both spent a season with the Under-21s after signing from Mali and Paraguay respectively. Enzo Kana-Biyik was immediately set on loan to Ineos-owned Lausanne Sport, but he arrived from France. Having come through Le Havre's academy, Kana-Biyik already had experience of European football which enabled him to be sent on loan, but Kone and Leon were given time to get up to speed after coming from different continents. Orozco is expected to require a similar period of adaptation as he settles into life in Manchester after switching from Colombia. United will provide English lessons for the youngster. United could still decide to send Orozco on loan next season. Nothing will be decided before he is assessed, but the pathways of Kone and Leon suggest a similar approach will be taken. The Reds are signing Orozco because they believe he has first-team potential. The 17-year-old was included in 11 of Fortaleza CEIF's first-team squads for this season, which saw him make two appearances from the bench in Colombia's top-flight, along with two starts. Orozco was welcomed to Manchester in December and shown around Carrington and Old Trafford, and the youngster's trip included a taste of training sessions with United's academy teams. United have widened their academy recruitment in recent years due to Brexit rules, which prevent them from signing players from Europe. The club's recent signings of young players from abroad who possess high potential are seen as low-risk and high-reward.
