Tyrell Malacia has left Manchester United to sign for Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati. The 27-year-old Dutch left-back has agreed a contract with the American side that runs until June 2027.

Manchester United confirmed the defender's exit on their official channels. Malacia joined the club from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022 but struggled with injuries throughout his time at Old Trafford. He made 39 appearances in all competitions, providing three assists.

His departure comes as Erik ten Hag's side sits 13th in the Premier League table with four points from four games. They have conceded seven goals while scoring seven, leaving them with a zero goal difference. The team's recent form shows two wins, one draw, and two losses from their last five outings, including back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Brighton.

Malacia's final United appearance came in a pre-season friendly. The club's statement wished him well for the future in the United States. His move to Cincinnati provides a fresh start in a league that has become a popular destination for European players in their prime.

With the transfer window closed in England, United's squad is now set for the immediate challenges ahead. They travel to face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, 20 September, looking to arrest their slide. The senior squad list, updated following Malacia's exit, is available on the squad page.

FC Cincinnati general manager Chris Albright said, "We are excited to add a player of Tyrell's experience." The club confirmed Malacia's contract includes an option for the 2027-28 season. The news comes as United, sitting 13th in the Premier League, prepare for their next fixture at Craven Cottage.
